Heroic moment truck driver saved by brave firefighter as cab dangles 70ft above river

This is the moment a brave firefighter abseiled off a busy highway bridge to rescue a semi-truck driver dangling in the cab 70 feet below.

The huge truck crashed off the side of Memorial Bridge in Louisville, Kentucky just after 12pm today.

The driver, a woman, was trapped inside the heavy vehicle as it hung perilously over the Ohio River.

Dramatic footage shows the fire team hoisting a courageous crew member down towards the front end using rope on a pulley.

The pair were returned safely to the bridge at 12.45pm.

Two other vehicles were involved in the crash on the busy route, which connects Kentucky to Indiana.

The woman was talking to firefighters and described as “shaken up but she seemed to be stable”.

She was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

The Sysco food distribution truck seems to still be intact despite its predicament.

Daily Express US has contacted Sysco for comment.

Drivers hoping to use the Clark Memorial Bridge are urged to find another route. It remains closed while recovery work is underway.
