A five-year-old girl died just days after becoming unwell, with an inquest set to look into whether earlier treatment could have helped the young child.
Aria Rose George died at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff on September 27, 2024.
Her health issues started on September 23, 2024 when she became unwell.
Aria was not known to have any health issues when she was taken to practice and then to Neath Port Talbot Hospital for treatment.
She was given medication at the time, but her condition did not improve.
Her parents took her to the hospital before she was transferred to The University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
Doctors then found she was suffering from a global intracerebral bleed with hydrocephalus. In addition, a CT Thorax showed pulmonary emboli.
Preliminary results from medical tests and observations were consistent with acute myeloid leukaemia.
Her condition deteriorated further before her tragic death on September 27, 2024.
Senior coroner Aled Gruffydd said an investigation is needed to establish if earlier treatment could have prevnted Aria’s passing.
