As the UK gears up for another mini-heatwave, barbecue season is officially here. So, as we dust off the grill and get ready for another summer, one recipe will upgrade the dip selection too, leaving guacamole fresh and zingy.
According to the Avocados from Mexico website, which specialises in avocado recipes, one unexpected ingredient takes your guacamole from tasty to delicious. Instead of using coriander, it recommends swapping out the traditional herb for fresh mint to upgrade the barbeque staple. The summery twist works perfectly with grilled meats or just scooped straight from the bowl with some tortilla chips.
The Avocados from Mexico website explained: “Minty goodness gives this guacamole a new twist! By it at the store or pick it from you garden, try using mint to flavor your appetizer.
“Paired with crunchy bell peppers or whole grain crackers, this guacamole is sure to be a hit with friends looking to try a new spin on an old favourite!”
It uses two avocados, the juice of half a lime, a tablespoon of olive oil, a splash of balsamic vinegar, mint, garlic, and salt and pepper.
To follow the recipe, it recommends mashing the avocados first, then folding in all the ingredients to ensure the mint doesn’t get crushed.
According to the experts, in addition to being delicious, avocados contain nearly 20 vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients, making guacamole a nutrient-packed side dish for any summer get-together.
Home chefs also discovered that cumin takes guacamole to the next level, by enhancing its rich flavour.
One wrote: “I usually put in a dash. Cumin is earthy and helps to bring out some spice… perfect fit.”
