Guacamole is not only tasty but versatile as it can be used a dip, spread on toast and used as a sandwich topping, but it sometimes taste a little plain if you do not make it properly. Avocados are popular due to their creamy texture but they have a very subtle flavour and can often taste a bit boring if you do not season them properly.

Kathryne Taylor, a cook and founder of Cookie and Kate has shared you can bring out the natural flavours in avocado to make your guacamole flavourful as long as you add a good amount of salt. She said: “Don’t be stingy with the salt. It’s amazing what another pinch can do to bring out guacamole’s best.”

Do worry as salt will not make guacamole salty but rather it amplifies the flavour so you can taste how buttery the avocado is.

Avocados can sometimes taste bitter, especially if they are underipe, but salt helps block this bitterness so you taste the richness of the fruit.

It draws out the moisture in the avocado which helps make them more aromatic, and will also help compliment some of the other ingredients used to make the guacamole.

It is a very simple and traditional way to make guacamole much tastier so you have a more vibrant dip.

Method:

Guacamole is super easy to make and should take less than five minutes. To begin scoop your avocado out of the its skin and place in a big bowl. Make sure to throw away any bruised or browning parts of the avocados as they can taste quite bitter.

Use a fork to mash up the avocado until you have a smooth texture. Then add the cilantro, jalapeño, lime juice, coriander, and salt.

Mix everything together and give it a taste. Add about half a teaspoon of salt more to help sharpen the flavours.

If you wish, add a little more lime juice if you want to make it have a fresher taste. Adding more lime juice can also stop it spoiling if you have any leftover guacamole and need to store it.

Your guacamole will be incredibly flavourful and ready to enjoy at your next picnic, barbecue, or as a tasty treat for yourself this summer.
