Get rid of limescale when even vinegar won't work – cleaners share 'miracle cleaner'

A commentator wrote: “Limescale is basic so to get rid of it, acids work best. Strong vinegar would work, and so would CLR.

“Another option is Barkeepers Friend, which is oxalic acid. It’s more eco-friendly than CLR and stronger than vinegar. Make sure to get the non-abrasive formula so as not to scratch the tub.”

One clever user also suggested you can naturally remove limescale if you “scrape it with a wet penny.”

This penny solution was first shared on the Mrs Hinch fans page on Facebook. One user said: “Wet a 2p coin and rub with the side of it. The limescale stains will fall straight off. I don’t know how it works but it’s magic.”

Another user said: “I used half a lemon wedged up onto the tap and used elastic bands, not that easy to leave to soak. Then I used a 2p piece and gently scraped away limescale, it works, got the tip from this site.”

Not only is the 2p cleaning trick very affordable, but it is one natural solution to keep limescale away without using chemicals or spending too much money on cleaning supplies
