Gemma Collins' mum beloved Joan rushed to hospital after she 'stops breathing'

Gemma Collins has been having a difficult time after her dear mother was taken into hospital and placed in the intensive care unit after a terrifying incident where she “stopped breathing”. The 43-year-old TOWIE star revealed the harrowing situation to her Instagram 2.2 million followers today, admitting her mum Joan is “really ill at the minute.”

In an emotional Instagram post, Gemma disclosed: “So last week I had the shock of my life when my mum stopped breathing, I called an ambulance and was told to prepare for the worst and would I like to resuscitate her. It’s been extremely tough but she is stable now and hopefully she will be much better soon. No day is promised so make every day count.”

Previously in August, Gemma’s mum faced another health scare and was rushed to the hospital. The reality TV favourite was understandably upset when her mum fell ill suddenly, leading to her being taken into hospital for additional examinations. Fortunately, Joan recovered swiftly and was able to return home.

Overjoyed by her mother’s recovery, Gemma quickly updated her worried fans on Instagram, posting a picture of her mum coming home using her walker. At that moment, Gemma expressed her relief, saying: “Mums home and I have Tom Griffin here for some healing. Welcome home nanny.”

Gemma recently took to social media to post a heart-wrenching image of her mother with tubes in her nose while in a hospital bed, expressing her gratitude with the words: “Such a scary moment when mum come to hospital. Thank you queens hospital Romford for all your doing.”

Alongside this, she shared a cherished photo from better days, urging her followers: “Love your parents as hard as you can. Thank you to everyone looking after mum @joancollins1 at QUEENS HOSPITAL ROMFORD.” (sic)

Previously, Gemma disclosed another health fright involving her mother when she discovered a lump between her breast and armpit.

The family was relieved when Joan received the good news that the lump was benign.

In an interview with The Sun, Gemma recounted the anxious moment: “It was over the phone. I was in the back of a taxi in London and I was like, ‘Are you all right, mum? Where are you? ‘ – as we say every day, ten times a day.

“She said, ‘Ah I didn’t want to tell you, but I’ve had a lump in my breast. I was like, ‘What? ‘, and she said, ‘But it’s fine I’ve got the all-clear’. I was like, ‘Oh, my God. Why didn’t you tell me?'”

Joan has battled with severe health issues stemming from her rheumatoid arthritis, which escalated to such an extent that Gemma was genuinely concerned for her life.

“I always tried to be really strong, so when I was with her I was happy, upbeat, like ‘Come on mum, you’re gonna be alright!'” Gemma said.
