Gardening expert shares five simple steps to transform your lawn in just four weeks

Achieving a lush green lawn can be tricky, especially when weather conditions are poor during the winter months.

If your grass looks sad and it is a dull green colour, it could be because the soil isn’t allowing water through, even when it rains.

According to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) fixing the soil can be hard.

However, a gardening expert has shared a ‘simple’ trick to make your grass look amazing, reported The Mirror.

Jack, who posts on TikTok as @thelawnpack, showed a video of a lawn before and after his help, and it’s a big change.

He explained: “We started by scarifying the lawn, this removed any excess thatch and allowed the lawn to breathe.”

You can use a rake or a special machine to do this, which gets rid of dead grass.

Gardeners should aim to keep the amount of thatch in a lawn less than one centimetre deep. It can look unsightly initially but once you trust the process, it’ll look great.

Jack explains that the next step is to sprinkle some good fertiliser that helps the grass grow strong and healthy.

He said: “Step three is to apply an appropriate high-quality seed mix, which in this case was all dwarf ryegrass to make sure it was resilient as it was being used quite frequently by pets and general usage.”

Ryegrass grows fast, fights off weeds, and can be cut short for a nice lawn, according to Cotswold Seeds.

“We then applied liquid seaweed, which is an organic bio-stimulant and will help root development,” Jack mentioned.

Seaweed has lots of good stuff in it that makes the grass thick and tough. The Garden Lawncare Guy says it also helps plants grow better, feel less stressed, and stay healthy.

The last thing to do is water the grass every day for four weeks. Jack noted: “The same process is entirely possible with your lawn, so in four weeks your lawn could be vibrant and green too.”
