Gardener's 'free' and organic method completely 'eliminates' weeds from gardens

A clever gardener who lives off-grid has shared his secret to keeping weeds at bay. It’s free, natural, and even adds goodness back into the soil.

Sean, who shares his tips on TikTok (@offgridsean), showed how he keeps the unwanted plants out of his garden.

“Do this and eliminate weeds from the garden organically and for free,” he said in his video.

So what is Sean’s secret weapon? Rather than resorting to harmful weed killers or vinegar, he used plain old leaves, according to The US Sun.

The TikTok gardener claimed leaves are a “readily available resource that’s free on my property”.

According to Sean, leaves can stop weeds from growing around your plants. They also help keep the soil moist by reducing evaporation.

But there’s another bonus to using leaves in your garden. “When they break down, it’s gonna add valuable nutrients back into your garden,” he explained.

He added: “Leaves are a multi-purpose and free resource.”

While some people just throw leaves on their gardens, Sean prefers to chop them up finely.

To do this, Sean puts the leaves in a bin and uses a weed eater to cut them up. “You get some high-quality leaf mulch,” he said.

Furthermore, there’s one more benefit to using leaves in your garden. In the comments, Sean revealed that they can also protect against frost.

“It is great cover against frost,” he added.

Monty Don recently shared a method for preventing weeds in gardens.

The gardening expert suggested mulching to “suppress” and “weaken” annual and perennial weeds.

Monty said mulching also reduces evaporation and locks moisture into the soil.
