Garden Rescue guest 'exposes' condition needed to appear on Charlie Dimmock’s show

One previous participant who appeared on BBC’s Garden Rescue claimed the one condition needed to appear on the programme. In the show, viewers see presenters Charlie Dimmock, Flo Headlam, Chris Hull and Lee Burkhill compete in two teams.

In each episode, they’re tasked with designing gardens for homeowners across the country. However, only one of their designs will get chosen and created, in keeping with the budget and what the owners want.

However, there’s one behind-the-scenes secret many fans of the show won’t be aware of. Taking to TikTok, one former participant claimed that people who appear on the programme need to show one specific thing before the makeover can begin.

In the video, they said: “You have to show proof of at least £3000 to spare on the garden transformation because it comes out of your pocket.” Despite the transformation coming with a cost, they get assistance from a team of experts and their specialised knowledge.

Although people have seen Charlie create a range of unique and gorgeous gardens on the BBC show over the years, it seems the same can’t be said about her own home. Speaking to Express.co.uk in the past she described it as a ‘disaster area’.

Express.co.uk has reached out to the BBC for comment.

She confessed: “Firstly I have to say my garden isn’t always in tip-top condition!

“Unfortunately I tend to be away working at the more critical busy times (spring and summer) so I often get behind.”

The 57-year-old revealed it’s best to do keep on top of garden maintenance frequently to make it easier.

Charlie continued: “I’m going to try and make my garden look good because I’ve been doing this so long, it looks like a disaster area!”

Charlie first rose to fame back in 1997 when she fronted the BBC show Ground Force alongside the likes of Alan Titchmarsh and Tommy Walsh.

Since then, the 57-year-old has remained a staple in TV and has fronted Garden Rescue since 2016.

Initially, she hosted the show alongside brothers Harry and David Rich and Arit Anderson, although the trio decided to leave three years ago.

At the time, a statement from BBC said: “Arit Anderson and the Rich brothers have decided to leave the programme after this year, however, they will continue to feature in the latest series starting this month.”

Since then, Lee Burkhill, Flo Headlam, and Chris Hull joined the gardening show for its fifth series.

Fans of the programme welcomed their addition as the trio has continued to remain part of the cast.

Garden Rescue returned to BBC One last week for its newest series.
