A woman has shared a clever trick on how to make the perfect ham and cheese toastie, and it will make you say goodbye to pan frying.
Toasties, or as some people call them, grilled cheese sandwiches, are loved by many people in Britain for their easy-to-make convenience baked into delightful taste.
What makes a good toastie? Thick bread slices, a hearty sprinkle of butter and the mighty cheese pull. Then comes the choice between Worcestershire sauce or ketchup – or if you’re feeling adventurous, caramelising some onions.

Whether triangles or rectangles, the shape is your preference. However, the way these formerly humble, cold sandwiches are cooked is changing.
A woman has pledged to no longer use her frying pan for making her favourite toasted sandwiches after discovering an unbeatable alternative.
Choosing to stay anonymous, the woman shared a photo of her midday meal in the Facebook group Air Fryer: Easy Recipes. Being generous with the amount of butter, she applied it lavishly on both sides of the sandwich, added garlic salt, coupled with a piece of deli ham, a bit of American cheese, and a piece of Gouda.
Prior to cooking the sandwich, she warmed up her air fryer at about 190C (370 Fahrenheit) for approximately five minutes. She then cooked the sandwich for five more minutes, remembering to flip it over halfway through. “Oh my gosh, I tried an air fryer ham and cheese today, game changer. I will never pan fry again,” she announced proudly. “[It’s] totally delicious.”

Many users shared their own air-fryer creations, suggesting to improve the toastie recipe by using mayonnaise instead of butter. However, some were firm that the only way to make a toasted sandwich is with a traditional grill.
