Full list of Red Arrows displays in UK and Europe in 2024

The Red Arrows have released their 2024 schedule for their 60th Anniversary year. The iconic band of pilots are currently training at RAF Waddington, with their first display of the year scheduled to mark the Battle of Crete during World War Two at the end of May.

Squadron Leader Jon Bond, who will lead the Arrows as Red 1 for the first time this year, said: “To bring together the past, present and potential future of the Red Arrows is the perfect way to launch our 60th season display calendar.

“The Red Arrows will perform a new, nine-aircraft show at locations across the UK this summer and the whole team of 140 people, both air and ground crew, are humbled by the countless individuals whom have already got in touch to say how they can’t wait to see this diamond display.”

“Generations of families, up and down the country, have enjoyed watching the Red Arrows display ever since the first public show in 1965 and this 60th season will remain faithful to our aims – to entertain, inform and inspire.”

In advance of their landmark displays, here is a complete list of the key dates to keep an eye out for.

When: Saturday, June 15

Where: London

What to expect: The Red Arrows will fly over London on Saturday, June 15 to mark the King’s birthday. Last year the Royals gathered on the Buckingham Palace balcony to observe the flyover of the Red Arrows and more than 50 other aircraft.

This will be the only time the flying team will be seen over the capital’s skies this year.

When: Sunday, June 30

Where: Folkestone, Kent

What to expect: A fortnight following the London flypast, the Red Arrows will set out again, this time to celebrate Armed Forces Day in Folkestone.

The event over Clifton Gardens will be the centre piece of the event, which recognises veterans and serving members of the armed forces.

There will also be Spitfires and a Chinook Display Team on show. Around 60,000 visitors are expected at this year’s event.

When: Friday, July 5

Where: Headcorn, Kent

What to expect: The famous planes will then take off near the capital again for the first day of The 2024 Battle of Britain Airshow at Headcorn Aerodrome. The annual event will see Second World War-era displays with family-oriented events and re-enactments.

Headcorn marks a key area where the Britain repelled the Nazis in 1940. Tickets are on sale soon, and this is the link you need if you’re interested in going.

When: Sunday, July 7

Where: Silverstone

What to expect: The F1 may not be a military event, but the Red Arrows display is an essential element of the day. Marking a particularly busy period for the Red Arrows, with fly-overs in Swansea and Teignmouth in between, the pilots dazzle the Grand Prix crowds at Silverstone.

When: 2-24 August

Where: Edinburgh

What to expect: The Edinburgh Tattoo celebrates British Military history as well as Scottish culture. The Red Arrows will fly over the Scottish capital, as attendees enjoy the fabulous array of activities.
