However, one pet owner has shared on TikTok four specific ways cats express their affection, some of which might go unnoticed. User @oreoandpumpkinspice revealed in her video the “four signs your cat has made you their number one person”, starting with “they can’t stop staring at you”.
This behaviour is often misunderstood, with owners thinking their cat is giving them ‘evil eyes’, when in fact, they’re likely admiring you from afar. The video explains: “If your cat keeps their eyes locked on you while you’re doing everyday stuff like making coffee or checking your phone, they’re not just bored. That gaze says they’re tuned in and genuinely curious about what you’re up to.”
The next sign is more apparent, as the video states: “They pick your lap as their hang out spot.” Cats are selective about whose lap they choose to settle on, so if they opt for yours, it’s a clear indication they feel secure with you.
The video also mentions that if your cat gives you little head nudges, it’s their way of saying ‘You’re mine’. They’re marking you with their scent, claiming you as part of their world.
