Sarah Ferguson has faced an all-time low over the last few weeks after she found herself entangled in a scandal surrounding her previous friendship with the convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein. Just weeks ago, it was revealed that Sarah, 66, had emailed Epstein in 2011 after his release from prison for child sex offences.
In this email, she apologised to her “supreme friend” for criticising him in a media interview. It has since been claimed that she only sent the email out of fear he was going to sue her for defamation.
However, while this scandal has sunk her royal reputation for good, this is not the first time she has found herself in a tricky situation which left her unfavourable with royal relatives.
This is because she was spotted in 1992, just months after splitting from her husband Prince Andrew – having her toes sucked by Texan billionaire John Bryan, as she relaxed at a St Tropez holiday villa.
This reportedly appalled her father-in-law, Prince Philip, and meant he no longer wanted to be around her.
In an article for the Mail Online, broadcaster and writer Gyles Brandreth once recalled a conversation he’d had with Philip about the matter.
Brandreth said: “When I asked him [Prince Philip] why he wouldn’t see Sarah, he said: “’I am not vindictive, but I don’t see the point.”
Brandreth then said: “The Duke of Edinburgh decided that, as far as he was concerned, ‘enough was enough’.
“He did not want – or need – to have anything more to do with her.”
While Prince Philip is sadly no longer around, there is now believed to be another royal who wants nothing to do with Sarah Ferguson – Prince William.
It is believed that neither Prince Andrew or Sarah will be invited to his future Coronation, with the future King reportedly also keen for them to be far away from royal life.
