The FBI is examining DNA evidence collected from Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson, Arizona, home as the bureau desperately searches for a new lead into the 84-year-old’s disappearance, according to a report.
A Florida lab that partners with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department sent the sample to the FBI, which is using new technology to perform an advanced analysis on the DNA sample — which was not newly discovered, ABC News reported.

The PCSD has said the DNA recovered from Guthrie’s home came from more than one person, according to the outlet.

The sheriff said up to five more labs around the country are devoting resources to the case, but it was not immediately known whether there are any new DNA samples being reviewed.
Some two dozen investigators with Pima County and the FBI remain on the case, but progress has been agonizingly slow to materialize since the mother of NBC News co-anchor Savannah Guthrie vanished on Feb. 1.
