Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg was reportedly asked to leave the White House’s most important room after he “walked in unexpectedly” to a meeting between the president and military leaders. According to NBC News, sources close to the meeting described how shocked military leaders were left concerned after the social media mogul entered the Oval Office as they discussed plans for a new generation of fighter jets.
Sources suggest that he was then asked to leave the office and wait outside following the embarrassing blunder. Officials were understood to be “mystified and a bit unnerved” and the unwanted interruption and the ability of somebody with no security clearance to wander into such meetings. Zuckerberg has made a conscious effort in recent years to align himself with Trump and the MAGA movement despite previously seemingly being in favour of liberal politics.
Twitter also banned the president following his election defeat, prior to being bought by Elon Musk and renamed X.
The resurgence of the MAGA movement and the upward trajectory of Trump’s political career in recent years have seen Silicon Valley flock to the president.
Relations with X owner Elon Musk have soured however in recent months, with the president threatening to deport the South African billionaire following criticism of the president’s ‘big beautiful bill,’ labelling it an “abomination”.
He also threatened to remove the Space X founder’s government subsidies by getting the “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) to examine funding which allows the company to bid for and take on government space contracts.
Trump told reporters on Tuesday: “DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible?”
