Aston Martin boss Andy Cowell has confirmed rumours that newly-recruited design guru Adrian Newey is not putting any time whatsoever into developing this year’s car.
Instead, former Red Bull technical officer Newey is pouring all of his efforts into creating a competitive machine for the 2026 season.
Cowell said: “100% of Adrian’s designing time is on 2026. There are some tough deadlines to meet for releasing monocoque details, transmission details, and the cars are running earlier for the 2026 season, with the test at the end of January.
“There is a lot of work there, and Adrian has just been focused on that.”
