Expert reveals 'subtle hints' King Charles is under pressure despite 'relaxed' church trip

A body language expert has revealed the two subtle sing that the monarch is under pressure – despite a recent engagement where he appeared “relaxed”.

King Charles and the rest of the Royal Family have been busy putting the recent Omid Scobie drama behind them as they embarked on a number of royal engagements this week. On Tuesday His Majesty paid a visit to Stevenage to attend an Advent and Christmas reception at The Coptic Orthodox Church Centre.

He was greeted by Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Mr Robert Voss, local councillors and Bishop of St Albans, Bishop Alan Smith before attending the Advent Service in the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral of St George, and later unveiling a plaque and planting a tree.

While he seemed as cheerful as ever, and determined to uphold the royal mantra of ‘never complain, never explain’, body language expert Judi James believes he may still be finding the situation a little stressful. She told Express.co.uk: “The dimpling on Charles’s upper cheek as he bends to plant the tree suggests he has approached this post-Scobie outing with good humour and stoicism.”

She added: “At one point his face is even wreathed in smiles that create deep grooves around his eyes and down alongside his mouth, suggesting authentic humour and delight to be there with his hosts.

“Sitting in the pew his posture suggests he is relaxed as he listens, and when he is standing addressing the group in his rather dapper, chipper-looking tie and hanky combo, plus the way he holds the mic aloft and gesticulates animatedly with the other hand, suggests he feels he is among friends and is enjoying the performance moment.”

However, she then added: “There are only two subtle hints of any feelings of pressure behind the scenes here: Firstly, his eye expression.
