A California congressman is accusing a former San Francisco 49ers fullback of threats to execute him.
U.S. representative for California’s 14th congressional district Eric Swalwell shared a message on social media from Bruce Miller’s social media account, which displayed threatening content.
“Almost time!!! Would you rather Guantanamo or just execution (expletive) traitor,” the message said.
The threat was sent as a direct message to Swalwell from Miller’s social media account.
Swalwell shared a screenshot of the threat on social media and posted the question: “Who is this guy threatening to execute me? And how does he have so many followers?”

Some of Swalwell’s followers immediately pointed out that Miller is an ex-NFL player.
According to NBC, Miller’s threat was reported to the Capitol Police.
“My family and staff are deeply disturbed by the threat of execution … apparently by former 49er Bruce Miller,” Swalwell said to NBC. “Threats of political violence are unacceptable.”
Swalwell was first elected to represent California’s East Bay in Congress in 2012. He’s now in his sixth term.
Miller was a seventh-round pick by the 49ers in the 2011 NFL draft. He was released during the 2016 offseason after being charged with seven felonies after he allegedly assaulted a 70-year-old man.
Miller made an NFL comeback in 2020 when he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and appeared in eight games. The 35-year-old has been out of football since the 2020 season.
