Tesco has warned its millions of Clubcard users that a major batch of vouchers is set to expire in a matter of days – on May 31, 2025. The vouchers, issued in May 2023, are approaching the end of their two-year validity and will become worthless unless they are used before the deadline. However, there is a little-known 50p trick that could give your vouchers a second life.
To avoid losing your vouchers, Tesco is urging its customers to use their vouchers now. The supermarket has emailed some of its customers saying: “Your Clubcard vouchers are expiring soon. Don’t forget to use them on your next shop.”
But if you want to hold onto your vouchers to use later in the year (for example, around Christmas time) there is a little-known loophole to extend their lifespan.
To do this you will need to make a small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard Rewards webpage (this could be as little as 50p) and your remaining Clubcard voucher balance will then be credited back to you as points.
You can either spend as little as 50p on a small purchase or donate to one of the supermarket’s partner charities in order to extend the voucher.
If you spend 50p from a £5 voucher, for example, you’ll receive 450 points which is worth £4.50, and this will be converted into a new voucher with a fresh two-year expiry.
Customers can check their active and expiring vouchers via the Tesco app or on the Tesco Clubcard website.
Once logged in, you’ll see a full list of vouchers, their values, and expiry dates, so you can act before it’s too late.
Clubcard vouchers can be used in-store, online, for fuel, or with Tesco’s Reward Partners, where they can be worth up to three times more.
According to Money Saving Expert, you can also double the value of your vouchers if you spend them at Tesco’s Reward Partners, such as Bella Italia, Chessington World of Adventures, or Disney+.
