Europe's most insane-looking Airbnb charging more than £16,000 a night on New Year's Eve

A lavish castle can be rented to say goodbye to 2023 with a bang – but a similar New Year’s Eve experience would cost thousands.

One of the most exclusive properties available on short-term rental website Airbnb is Luttrellstown Castle Resort, a majestic property in Dublin.

Located on 567 acres of parkland, the 15th-century castle offers all the amenities that can be expected at a similar venue – including an 18-hole golf course and an alpine lodge-style clubhouse.

This property peppered with luxurious old-world furnishings and marble bathtubs is easily accessible from abroad, as it distances just a 22-minute drive from Dublin Airport.

Owned by the Luttrell family until 1811, this vast property counts 20 bedrooms. Each with an ensuite bathroom, these rooms can include double size, King size or California King size beds.

The versatility of the castle would allow its guests on New Year’s Eve not just to party but also to relax and take in the stunning nature surrounding it.

The venue, where a maximum of 52 guests can sleep, also features various living rooms and halls.

Among them is the Gothic Hall, described on the castle’s website as decorated with “enchanting vaulted ceilings and Italian Crystal chandelier”, and the Kentian Suite, with “its beautiful tapestries and welcoming open fire”.

Spending a few days here would likely be a unique experience – but would also inevitably come at an extremely high price, as booking the night between New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day at Luttrellstown Castle via Airbnb costs an eye-watering £16,492.

As this is an exclusive venue for hire, it means that no matter how many rooms will actually be occupied no other guests but the people renting the castle will be there on the day of the booking.

The castle is normally rented for major occasions including weddings, family gatherings and business meetings.

This exclusive castle is far from being the only insane-looking location that can be rented for a few days on Airbnb.

Among other castles available for short stays is the Chateau du Mailly, a 16-bedroom venue located in the French northern Burgundy wine country. It costs £1,508 a night.

Even more expensive than Luttrellstown Castle is a luxury villa in stunning Sorrento, southern Italy. Offering six bedrooms, a terrace overlooking the Gulf of Naples, lavish gardens and a private boat dock, this mansion comes at £34,107 a night.
