Europe’s biggest McDonalds opens at Majorca airport just in time for summer | World | News

Brits jetting to the sun-drenched Spanish island will be able to enjoy a Big Mac on the fly in a new restaurant measuring 10,765 sq ft (1,000m2).

The massive Maccies includes digital kiosks, eight production lines, table service, and McCafé products.

It is the company’s largest restaurant on the continent.

An estimated 750,000 Brits head to the isle every summer.

The XXL McDonald’s branch can be found at Level P30, Module A Airside of Palma de Mallorca Airport.

The terminal building has undergone refurbishment work to optimise passenger comfort, provide new security checkpoints and expand retail spaces.

The new McDonald’s restaurant is part of Module A’s renovation.

But it’s only available for non-Schengen countries, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Therefore many European holidaymakers won’t be able to dine in the new Maccies, but British travellers will be able to fill up on nuggets and fries.

The new branch has reportedly created 200 new jobs on top of the 1,000 workers already employed in the Balearic Islands.

Ángel Castillo, Chief Restaurant Officer of McDonald’s Spain, said: “This opening represents a new milestone and another example of our commitment to the Balearic Islands, an area of strategic interest for the company where we already have over 20 restaurants.

“We are thereby contributing to the Spanish economy and the creation of quality employment, fulfilling our mission of supporting the communities where we operate.”

There are around 43,500 McDonald’s restaurants in over 100 countries around the world

The largest is found in Orlando, Florida. Known as Epic McD, it measures 19,000 sq ft.
