Escape to the Country's Jules Hudson admits 'this is unusual for me' as couple struggle

Escape to the Country presenter Jules Hudson was left confused after failing to figure out which property a couple would go for after viewing four in total in a brand new episode on BBC One on Tuesday afternoon.

The host was joined by couple Karen and Steve who were looking to sell their caravan for a staycation home in the idyllic Wye Valley in Herefordshire.

The pair were shown four properties throughout the episode, but it appeared they couldn’t make their minds up after finding pro’s and cons for each of the staycation homes they were shown.

Towards the end of Tuesday’s instalment, Jules said directly to camera: “Well this week we’ve given Steve and Karen, I think four really interesting options to choose from and normally at this stage in the process, as our house tours have come to an end, I’ve got a pretty good idea as to which property our buyers might actually pick.

“But on this occasion, if I’m absolutely honest, I don’t think I actually know. Well of course there’s only one way to find out,” he said before sitting down with the couple to find out what was going through their minds.

As he sat down with the couple, he expressed: “Goodness me guys, now this is unusual for me but I am struggling to figure out what you’re going to do next.”

Steve joked: “I think we can forgive you for being confused as to how we feel cos I think we are as well.”

Karen went on to explain: “For me personally, obviously the garden at the mystery house was just wonderful and I could see us in it.

“For me, the house is a bit difficult to get my head round and I just didn’t feel it that much as opposed to house number three which I really loved and I would happily live there.”

Steve went on to share his own thoughts as he told Jules: “I think the fourth house for me was the one out of the four, the third, I wasn’t as taken as Karen but I could certainly see it working.

“I think we need 24 hours to digest and decide whether to take that one forward.”

In an update at the end of the episode, it was revealed that Karen and Steve decided against the mystery house and instead went on to view properties in Somerset, Dorset and Devon, where they’ve had an offer on a house accepted.

Escape to the Country airs weekdays from 3pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
