Norway is on a historic path after winning its first two games at the World Cup, and it’s not just the players celebrating.

The team’s star striker, Erling Haaland, went into the stands after Monday’s win over Senegal to celebrate with his longtime girlfriend, Isabel Haugseng Johansen.

The two have been dating since 2021, but have known each other longer than that, growing up in the same Norwegian town and playing for the same club, Byrne FK, as kids.

Johansen and Haaland have had the chance to explore part of the United States during the team’s downtime, posting pictures from Times Square and Katz’s Deli while in New York.

Haaland is off to a fabulous start in his first World Cup, scoring four times in two games to help lead Norway to their first knockout stage since the 1998 World Cup.

The celebrations included a stadium-wide “Viking ship” celebration led by team captain Martin Odegaard on the drums.

The celebration has gone viral at the 2026 World Cup, as Norway fans have rowed everywhere, from escalators to Times Square.

Norway’s manager, Ståle Solbakken, was actually the first member of the team into the stands, running directly after the final whistle to kiss his wife Anniken.

He has plenty of reason to celebrate with his side playing some of its best soccer ever, and has moved up to 30/1 ods to win the entire tournament, according to DraftKings.

Norway has its toughest test yet on June 26, facing tournament favorites France in their final World Cup group stage game.

“Honestly, I don’t care much,” Haaland said after the Senegal win. “We’re through, we managed to get through, which is incredible, so I couldn’t care too much about that game now.

“They’re probably going to win against us. They’re probably going to win the whole tournament.”

Regardless of whether he cares or not, Haaland and Mbappe will enter the game thick in the race for the Golden Boot.
