Duchess Sophie's 'fashion disaster' as fans slam outfit for Christmas carol concert

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh has divided royal fashion fans with her outfit choice for the Together at Christmas carol concert, which she attended with the rest of the Royal Family.

The Firm gathered at Westminster Abbey on Friday evening, December 8, for the now-traditional festivities, but Sophie’s outfit did not prove to be a popular choice.

Sophie wore a favourite blue bespoke Suzannah London long coat over a new Me+Em white textured Ponte midi-dress, accessorised with a brown Isabel Marant studded leather shoulder bag and brown over-the-knee suede boots by Gianvito Rossi.

However one Instagram royal follower labelled it a “fashion disaster”, while another added: “Nope, just nope. The hair is a mess, the boots are too casual and too heavy and the wrong colour.”

One simply described the look as a “mess”, while others had more constructive criticism, as another account said: “Bad pairing of the blue coat and brown boots. Sophie should have worn her cream coloured coat that matched her dress or ditched the brown and worn her cream coloured heels. So many other alternative choices than this…”

One user advised: “She looks nice it’s just always the finishing that needs fine tuning, for example her boots are lovely but to me they look slouchy instead of sitting straight on her leg.

“The reason I can think of is perhaps they don’t fit properly over her calves. The cream dress is lovely but why a sky blue coat? Go for a brown or cream coat. Just some thoughts.”

Another pointed out: “The dress and coat deserve a more elegant bag and footwear”, and a third chimed in: “I like it but it feels like more of a daytime look”.
