Britain will continue to face freezing weather conditions as the latest weather maps show a 473-mile snow bomb smashing the country days after an Arctic freeze.
Maps from WXCharts have turned a mix of white and purple from areas ranging from Wick to Manchester indicating the possibility of snow across these regions on March 5.
The weather conditions will leave many parts of the country covered with snow as the temperature levels plummet to -5C in the northernmost tip of Britain.
Wick, Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Newcastle, and Manchester seem to be the worst affected areas.
The return of the snowy conditions comes days after an Arctic freeze this weekend with a possibility of snowfall for 84 hours in some parts of the country.
According to the weather maps, which are compiled using data from the Metdesk, the snow blizzards will begin to hit areas in Scotland at around 6 am on March 5 (Tuesday), two days after the country recovers from the cold snap.
Weather modelling maps from WX Charts show the flurries continuing throughout the weekend, and they are forecast to spread to south-west England, North Wales, the Midlands and Scotland by around 3am on Saturday.
Jim Dale, a senior meteorologist for British Weather Services, told Express.co.uk: “Cold and wintry [weather] incoming, limited snow; ice/frosts into the early part of next week.
“[It will be] changeable with spells of showers/rain thereafter to mid-month. There is a continued risk of snow for the north without going wild about it.”
Today:
A frosty start with patchy fog clearing quickly. Rain and hill snow in the southwest, spreading northeast and turning heavy at times, with blustery showers following behind. Drier elsewhere, although showers in the far north. Breezy and feeling cold.
Tonight:
Rain and hill snow continues to move north overnight. Heavy showers across much of England and Wales, wintry over hills, with clear intervals between allowing patchy frost and fog.
Saturday:
Remaining unsettled on Saturday with further outbreaks of rain and showers, often wintry over the hills. Some brighter interludes, but still feeling cold, although winds gradually easing.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Winds continue to ease on Sunday and drier for most, although a few showers are still possible. Further wet weather into next week but temperatures slowly returning closer to average.
