After six seasons and two movies, the hit period drama is set to finally conclude with third and final film Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale.
Set in 1930, Michelle Dockery’s Lady Mary finds herself ostracised by society for her divorce, while Hugh Bonneville’s Lord Grantham faces financial difficulties.
Ahead of the world premiere in London next week, some lucky industry folks caught an early screening in Los Angeles and shared their first reactions on social media.
And by the sounds of it, Downton Abbey 3 is a great send-off for fans full of laughs and tears, but there is doubt that that is really the end of the road for the Crawleys.

DOWNTON ABBEY: THE GRAND FINALE is fabulous, fitting farewell—allwishing for a Lady Mary spinoff. Michelle Dockery is now the soul of DOWNTON. Oh, and Arty Froushan is a terrific edition to the cast.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale feels more like a passing of the torch than a true end. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Julian Fellowes or someone else gave us Downton Abbey: The Next Generation down the line. If this is indeed the finale, though, it is a heartfelt sendoff.
