Donald Trump threatens to not give a 'single penny' to Ukraine if he wins election

Donald Trump has “quite detailed plans” to end the war in Ukraine but would not give a “single penny” in its fight against Russia, according to Hungary’s Prime Minister, Victor Orbán.

The two leaders met in Florida for a “social meeting” on Friday night.

According to a readout from Trump’s campaign, he met with Orbán “to discuss a wide range of issues affecting Hungary and the United States, including the paramount importance of strong and secure borders to protect the sovereignty of each nation.”

During the meeting, the US Presidential candidate is believed to have spoken about his plans to end the war in Ukraine, which would align with Hungary’s interests.

Orbán said: “He has a very clear vision that is hard to disagree with. He says the following: first, he will not give a single penny for the Russo-Ukrainian war.

“That’s why the war will end, because it’s obvious that Ukraine cannot stand on its own two feet.

“If the Americans don’t give money and weapons along with the Europeans, the war will end. And if the Americans don’t give money, then the Europeans won’t be able to fund this war alone. And then the war will end.”

He said that the US doesn’t want to fund Europe’s security.

Orbán added: “If Europeans are afraid of the Russians or want to have a high level of security in general, they have to pay for it.

“Either by building their own army and their own equipment, or if they use the Americans for this, by paying the Americans a price, the price of security. So he [Trump] is speaking directly and clearly.”

Hungary previously faced backlash from the West after blocking the EU’s effort to send aid to Ukraine, in what some see as a mark of support for Vladimir Putin and Russia.

The right-wing leader also opposed EU sanctions on Russian oil and gas.

Following their meeting on Friday, Trump descibed Orbán as a “fantastic leader”.
