Former President Donald Trump was indicted again Thursday, this time by a federal grand jury on charges related to the hundreds of classified documents from his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago.
“I AM AN INNOCENT MAN,” Trump said in two Truth Social posts following the news of his indictment.
This comes after Trump’s previous indictment in New York, which marked the first time a former president was criminally charged. That jury had been investigating hush money payments to two women who claimed to have had sex with him.

Why was Trump indicted again?
Trump was indicted for allegedly mishandling the hundreds of classified documents found at his Florida home.
More than 300 classified documents were recovered more than a year after Trump left the White House, most under subpoena in June 2022 or during an FBI search in August 2022. Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith has been investigating the potential mishandling of national defense records.
What’s next for Trump?
According to Trump − who shared the details in a Truth Social post − he has been summoned to appear 3 p.m. Tuesday at the federal courthouse in Miami.
What other legal challenges does Trump face?
Trump faces 34 charges of falsifying business records in New York for hush payments to women who claimed to have had sex with him, to which he pleaded not guilty. The trial is set for March, when presidential primaries are scheduled.
In Georgia, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is investigating potential election fraud because of Trump’s fake electors in that state and because of his call Jan. 2, 2021, asking state Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find” enough votes to overturn the election results.
He also has appealed the $5 million civil verdict won by E. Jean Carroll against Trump for sexual abuse and defamation over an encounter at a New York department store in the 1990s.

The first indictment helped Trump politically, which his poll numbers and campaign donations getting a post. His campaign reported $8 million in donations in the four days from his first indictment to his arrest.
He had a rally at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida hours after he was arrested. There he spoke to a crowd of supporters and denied the crimes of which he was accused.
Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, and he as remained a frontrunner in the 2024 GOP presidential primary.
