Doctor shares breakfast he eats every day that can lower cholesterol naturally

High cholesterol, similarly to high blood pressure, doesn’t cause many noticeable symptoms.

However, having too much cholesterol in your arteries can boost your risk of serious health problems, ranging from heart attacks to strokes.

Fortunately, healthy dietary tweaks could help flush out the fatty substance from your blood.

A doctor has shared the “fantastic” breakfast food that could do this with gusto.

Dr Zain Hasan, board-certified trauma anaesthesiologist, took to his TikTok to outline three foods to decrease cholesterol naturally.

He explained that he recommends eating the following options to his parents and his patients to keep their levels of the waxy substance in check.

To start the day with a cholesterol-lowering food, he recommended eating oatmeal. Dr Hasan confessed that even he eats the popular breakfast “every single day”.

He said: “I prefer it to be mixed in my protein shakes but you can eat it any way you want.

“Oatmeal has a fantastic soluble fibre. It will help bind bile acids which will then decrease cholesterol in your body naturally.”

The doctor added that you should opt for oatmeal that is free from glyphosate, a widely used herbicide that controls broadleaf weeds and grasses.

Another food that he recommended for slashing high cholesterol could make for a crunchy addition to your oatmeal – nuts.

Dr Hasan recommended always having some kind of nuts. He said: “A mix would be best, but almonds, cashews, any of them have great nutrients, fibre and they also have a very good amount of protein.”

The last cholesterol-lowering food on the doc’s list is berries. What’s more, it doesn’t matter what berries you go for so the choice is entirely yours.

Dr Hasan said: “Berries are antioxidants. They decrease the amount of free radicals in your body.

“Free radicals are what leads to blood clots, which cause heart attacks from free-flowing cholesterol in your arteries.

“So that means you can have some antioxidants floating around your body that can decrease the likelihood that the free-flowing cholesterol might actually cause a heart attack.”

Plus, berries are also packed with fibre, which can help flush out some of that “bad” cholesterol.
