A fast food chain has announced plans for rapid growth in the UK, aiming to open 100 more restaurants by 2030. Zambrero is an Australian fast food chain that serves Mexican-inspired dishes such as burritos. The chain currently has 13 stores in England, located in London, Manchester, Essex, Birmingham, and Reading. Zambrero has kick-started a franchise recruitment drive in a bid to open more restaurants in more locations across the country.
Zambrero is popular in other parts of the world, particularly in its home country of Australia. Reviewers there have called it “delicious” and have praised its vegetarian and vegan options on review sites like Trustpilot and Product Review. The fast food chain, which has more than 200 restaurants in Australia, has expanded to countries like New Zealand, Ireland and the United States. It is now recruiting Franchise Partners in the UK to become part of a support network of franchise restaurant owners and business support specialists.
Zambrero is also seeking Area Developers throughout the UK in an attempt to open in more towns and cities in the country. The company recently signed up its first three Franchise Partners, with new restaurants set to open within the next 12 months in England and Scotland.
The brand is looking for multi-site ownership to help drive expansion and promises “comprehensive training and ongoing support” for those who become Franchise Partners.
“We’ve had a lot of interest in the brand during the last couple of years – and now is the right time for us to expand through our Franchise Partners and work towards opening 100 restaurants by 2030,” said Emily Teh, CEO of Zambrero UK.
Zambrero has become known for serving Mexican-inspired dishes with a focus on fresh ingredients. In 2021, it opened its first UK restaurant in Kentish Town, North London. Zambrero was founded in 2005 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr Sam Prince.
Its original UK outing has impressive reviews online. One person said of the store: “Affordable Burritos that are filling and tasty if you get the large option. Very good for a quick lunch. I recommend the Big Beef Toasted Burrito, as the regular size is too small.”
Another wrote: “The nacho burrito was a sensation. Usually I go for a bowl but today I was feeling wild and adventurous. I didn’t regret this decision. The contrast of the crispy nachos with the soft tortilla wrap was something to behold.”
However, not all reviews are positive. One person said: “Probably some of the worst Mexican food I’ve had in London. The guac was brown and flavourless, the portion size for the bowl was minuscule and I didn’t like how the ingredients were separated in the bowl.”
Zambrero hopes to create more than 1,000 jobs with its planned expansion. Teh added: “We’re looking for passionate Franchise Partners who can open multiple restaurants. We’ve had great success through multi-site ownership in other markets, including Australia and Ireland, with more than half of our Franchise Partners wanting to go again and open more restaurants. We love this energy and enthusiasm for the brand and hope to find like-minded Franchise Partners here in the UK.”
