De ice car windscreen in seconds using leftover Christmas alcohol in unique tip

Motorists could remove ice from their car windscreen in seconds by pouring leftover Christmas booze over their cars, according to a TikTok influencer.

User @alextench filmed himself tipping a bottle of leftover Smirnoff Vodka across his windscreen in a bid to remove frost early in the morning.

The solution appeared to work with the mist and ice quickly evaporating to leave a clear screen.

The tip could be ideal for those struggling to clear a windscreen without a proper de-ice solution to hand.

He said: “Two cars, one bottle. Give your car a little bit of vodka in the morning, that works a treat.

“Absolutely dreamer, do both sides. Best hack for the morning. Works really well. Smirnoff on the windscreen in the mornings no problem.”

However, TikTok users quickly blasted the motorists for pouring away an expensive bottle of vodka.

@ahimaxo posted: “What a waste.” @belfastpatrick added: “Why would you waste bottle of Smirnoff vodka?”

@scouseprinny111x commented: “There’s no way I’m wasting a bottle of vodka like that.”

@tpruw reacted: “How expensive is that though.” @gillard9137 explained: “That’s the most expensive de-icer I’ve seen, mad.”

However, Mr Tench defended his actions as he explained the bottles were going to be left lying around. Firstly he admitted that he doesn’t drink alcohol so was unlikely to pick up the bottle of Smirnoff anyway.

Then, the TikToker admitted he had half a dozen bottles lying around at home after receiving them as gifts.

He replied: “It’s not a waste when I had six free bottles left over from last Christmas and I don’t drink.”

Rule 229 of the Highway Code makes clear that drivers must be able to see clearly before setting off.

This includes removing all snow and ice from the car windscreen and windows. Meanwhile, road users must make sure all the glass is demisted thoroughly.

Breaking the rule could see motorists punished for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition which could result in a £2,500 fine. However, one road user warned that pouring vodka over a vehicle could become a major safety risk in some built-up areas.

@lukelamb9174 said: “Then someone just walks past your car smells like vodka while he smoking a cigarette then throw it on the car then boom your car is gone.”
