D4vd, the singer accused of murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas was allegedly hiding other dark secrets — including a “significant” amount of child pornography on his phone, according to prosecutors.
D4vd, real name David Burke, appeared in court in shackles Thursday, looking sullen and staring straight ahead while dressed in an orange jumpsuit.
During the hearing — which happened to take place exactly one year to the day when investigators say Celeste was killed — prosecutors claimed to have discovered a “significant” amount of child pornography on the singer’s iPhone after conducting a search on the device.
Investigators claimed to have gathered 40 terabytes of data through a lengthy investigation. They also revealed they conducted a wiretap.
Prosecutors said they will turn over body cam video, DNA trace evidence, property reports, vehicle reports, photographs and forensic reports … all of which will be turned over to Burke’s defense team. He’s scheduled to be back in court April 29.
The hearing comes just three days after the singer entered a not guilty plea to all charges against him. Burke’s legal team mostly blocked him from view, but cameras caught him in black and wearing cuffs as he tilted his head and looked on emotionless.
Members of Rivas’ family sat shoulder to shoulder as the plea was entered, one wiped tears away and was comforted by an attorney.
Rivas’ cause of death was released on Wednesday. The 14-year-old girl died from “multiple penetrating injuries” according to the Los Angeles County Corner’s Office.
“After several months, I am grateful this information can now be released, not only to the public, but also to the grieving family enduring loss,” said Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Odey Ukpo.
“It is unfathomable they have had to wait this long to learn what happened to their daughter. The transparency of the information contained in our findings and reports is essential for empowering the community to make informed changes to affectively reduce fear and allowing the community to take informed action,” Ukpo continued.
Patrick Steinfeld, a lawyer for Rivas’ family, issued a statement after the report was released. “The Rivas Hernandez family is absolutely devastated by the findings contained in the Medical Examiner’s Report involving the horrible and gruesome death of their beloved daughter,” he wrote.
“These findings have caused profound emotional pain for the family. They respectfully ask for privacy, understanding, and patience as they process this information,” Steinfeld added. “The Rivas Hernandez family sincerely appreciates the community’s support and concern.”
Burke was arrested last Thursday and seen in cuffs as he was hauled away from his Hollywood Hills home In exclusive footage obtained by The California Post.
Prosecutors laid out a disturbing timeline of the relationship between Celeste Rivas and D4vd, real name David Burke, in the years leading up to her alleged murder in charging documents.
On or between September 2023 and September 2024 Burke committed the crime of continuous sexual abuse “who did unlawfully engage in three and more acts of ‘substantial sexual conduct,’” according to the documents.
The new timeline suggests Rivas could have been as young as 12 when the alleged abuse happened.
Rivas’ body parts were savagely spread out in two different cadaver bags found inside Burke’s Tesla, with her head and torso being stored in one bag and other body parts in the other.
Insects were found swarming over her remains, according to documents unsealed in a Texas court. She had previously been reported missing by her family in April.
