Cruise guest complains as they say ships are crowded with ‘swarms of people’

Cruise holidays are usually a time to unwind and relax from the stresses of everyday life. However, a cruise guest has said they think all-inclusive resorts might be better.

Reddit user ‘TheBeesElbow-IM’ said: “We are on our first cruise and though we are having an OK time, we are a bit thrown by just how crowded everywhere on the ship is.”

The holidaymaker said they were left wondering whether an all-inclusive hotel holiday might be a better option to escape the crowds. A cruise guest recently complained that passengers were making the lifts far too crowded.

Another cruise passenger said: “Space is at an absolute premium on a cruise ship. The pool at an all-inclusive could be the size of half the ship.

“There’s just so much more room available at an all-inclusive resort, so it will generally feel much less crowded, but of course there are exceptions.”

Even the world’s biggest cruise ships have minimal space compared to an all-inclusive resort so guests may be surprised by how small the swimming pool is.

Reddit user ‘Objective_Minute_263’ said: “Cruise ships are way worse in my opinion. Everyone is trying to do the same thing all at once every day.

“Boarding, port days, excursions etc. When I cruised this past February, there wasn’t a single day I was able to get a spot by the pool. You are constantly in a swarm of people going to one place or another.”

Passengers may find there are long queues to embark/disembark the ship during the peak summer holiday season.

Another guest said: “There are certainly crowded resorts and uncrowded cruise ships. In both cases, booking at the higher end, booking when children in that region are at school will result in a less crowded-feeling outcome.

“For cruises specifically, longer cruises tend to be less crowded than shorter cruises. And more adult-oriented lines will usually offer a quieter experience.”

Longer cruises may be less busy than short trips as fewer passengers are able to take a lengthy period of time off work.

Luxury lines are also less likely to be crowded as guests are looking for more of an exclusive experience.

Guests can also check reviews online before booking a holiday to see if they’re likely to face crowds.
