Critics are blasting Mayor Zohran Mamdani for vowing to try to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he comes to the UN in September — seething that Hizzoner should focus on the city’s own major problems.
“Mamdani should concern himself with the homeless epidemic, the affordability crisis and the floods on New York City’s roads rather than illegally meddling in foreign affairs to befriend more terrorists and attempt to arrest our friends,’’ fumed GOP firebrand and Brooklyn City Councilwoman Inna Vernikov to The Post.
“He’s the mayor of New York City, not the secretary general of the United Nations,” scoffed the pol — who fired off a blistering letter to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday saying Mamdani’s “threat of an illegal order of arrest must bear consequences.
“The Mayor of New York City does not recognize the jurisdiction of the United States of America and will do anything he can to subvert our Constitutional Republic,” she wrote.
“I respectfully request that the State Department issue a stern warning and an opinion as to whether such an act would violate U.S. law resulting in a prosecution and/or criminal action taken by the federal government against Mayor Mamdani.”
Brooklyn state Assemblyman Kalman Yeger called Mamdani “delusional.”
Mamdani told the New York Times on Saturday, “I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in The Hague,” referring to the United Nations’ International Court of Justice — and said he is having an “active conversation’’ about trying to jail the PM when he comes to Manhattan for the United Nations General Assembly in the fall.
But Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman joined critics in bashing the New York City mayor over his comments.
Fetterman called Mamdani a “clown.”
“It’s such a tough guy to say that kind of thing. He has no way to do that,’’ Fetterman said on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”

Former Mayor Eric Adams also dumped on his successor, saying, “This isn’t a college protest.
“Threatening to arrest the democratically elected leader of one of America’s closest allies during U.N. General Assembly week isn’t bold. It’s reckless,’’ Adams said.
Shosh Bedrosian, a former New Yorker and Israel’s most recent rep for the prime minister’s office, told The Post, “Prime Minister Netanyahu … deserves respect as the elected leader of a democratic ally of the United States — not baseless attacks from a New York City mayor.
“Meanwhile, Mamdani remains unfazed by the fact that the Iranian regime, a designated state sponsor of terrorism, continues to operate its UN mission in New York City.’’
