Dodgers Post podcast: Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s near no-hitter

The LA Dodgers’ season is getting into the dog days of summer.

Good thing Yoshinobu Yamamoto provided a jolt with his near no-hitter last weekend.

That’s what California Post baseball writers Dylan Hernandez and Jack Harris discuss from the Dodger Stadium on the latest episode of the Dodgers Post podcast.

First, they recap the team’s Monday night win over the Tampa Bay Rays, lessons learned from their series loss over the weekend to the Chicago White Sox, and other news and notes from the past few days.

Next up, they review Yamamoto’s epic, and nearly historic performance on Saturday in which he carried a perfect game into the eighth inning, and a no-hitter into the ninth. 

Dylan (who has been predicting a Yamamoto no-hitter all season) details his interaction with the pitcher in the wake of the performance.

Jack then talks about Mookie Betts’ error in the eighth inning that snapped the perfect game, and (hot-take alert!) if it was almost better that Yamamoto didn’t complete the no-no after that.
