Meghan Markle’s birthday tribute for her husband, Prince Harry’s, 41st birthday this month, appears to have an interesting story behind it. On September 15, the Duchess of Sussex took to her Instagram account to share a picture of her husband from 2015.
The Duke had visited Goodwood Aerodrome in Chichester to watch a Battle of Britain Flypast for the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Meghan gushed about her husband in uniform, writing in a message: “Oh hi, Birthday Boy [fire emoji].”
But she was mocked by royal fans who were not impressed with her choice and angle of the picture. Some dub it “insulting,” while others accuse her of mocking her own husband.
A user on X wrote: “This real? Omg Meghan hates Harry – using a 10 year old photo with him with hair how insulting.”
Another person said: “She didn’t even know him then .. and the [fire emoji] emoji is cringe off the charts for an old photo.”
A third one said: “She’s wishing (sort of) him a happy birthday while mocking him!!”
While a fourth person asked: “Could she have picked a worse photo?”
Someone else commented: “Is that for real? She really posted that? Holy $***”
Harry’s engagement in 2015 coincided with his 31st birthday on September 15.
According to a report by the Daily Mail at the time, the Duke flew back to London from Sussex that day and spent the evening with his ex-girlfriend Cressida Jones, who had split up with her then-latest boyfriend.
The newspaper claimed the Duke spent time with his ex and a group of close friends at the Cross Keys pub in Chelsea.
Cressida, 26, was in a relationship with the Duke of Sussex for two years between 2012 and 2014.
They never rekindled their romance.
The model is now married to real estate agent and property investor Harry Wentworth-Stanley, and they have two children.
