Coronation Street horror attack as resident left for dead in revenge twist

In scenes set to air next week, Coronation Street viewers will see one resident left for dead after being attacked. Official spoilers for the ITV soap reveal that Nathan Curtis’ (played by Chris Harper) return has some Weatherfield residents unsettled.

After learning about his release from prison, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) is adamant about proving he has something to do with Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) disappearance. Next week, she takes matters into her own hands and grills Craig Tinker (Colson Smith).

Wanting to know more about Nathan’s alibi, Craig lets slip that the former was with his girlfriend, who works at a nail bar in town. However, Bethany is riled when she points out that Nathan was running a tanning salon at the time that he groomed her.

Later on, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) is worried about Bethany becoming fixated on pinning Lauren’s murder on Nathan, and confides in Gary Windass (Mikey North). Elsewhere, Bethany and Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) head out, but are interrupted by a seething Nathan.

Furious, he confronts them and rails at Bethany for harassing his girlfriend. Meanwhile, Sarah, Gary and David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) discuss Nathan and all agree something needs to be done before he ruins Bethany’s life all over again.

Later on, Nathan is at work on the building site as he starts to pack away his things.

However, when a hooded figure approaches and strikes him over the head, he collapses, unconscious.

Could Bethany be the person to attack her former abuser in an act of revenge? Or is someone close to her taking action before he hurts her again?

The last time people saw Nathan was back in 2017, when he was imprisoned for being part of a child sex grooming gang.

However, Bethany will learn he’s been out of prison for a while now, and has been working at a building site nearby.

With Nathan walking free and knowing his evil past with young girls, Bethany is on a mission to prove he has something to do with Lauren’s disappearance.

Speaking about his return to the ITV soap, soap star Chris Harper said it was emotional when he found out about a potential comeback.

He explained: “During the 18 months he was in it before, hundreds of people shared with me how the storyline reflected something they, or someone they loved, had lived through. It remains important to keep them in mind as we continue Bethany’s story.”

“Once again, I am grateful for the ongoing support of Barnardo’s, NSPCC, S.H.E.UK, and all the people who trusted me last time.

“We have another chance to raise an issue that affects so many lives, so often shrouded in shame.”

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
