Cops fire on suspect with a weapon during rush hour on the 101 Freeway

Shots were fired on the 101 Freeway Thursday morning near Boyle Heights after California Highway Patrol officers responded to a call about a person possibly wielding a hammer on the road.

Details about the person’s condition are unknown. No officers were injured in the incident.

As officers conduct a shooting investigation in the area, lanes on both sides of the 101 Freeway have been closed.
