Columbia anti-Israel protestors chillingly chant 'Hamas kill another soldier now'

Columbia University protesters were filmed shouting chilling pro-Hamas chants during recent demonstrations.

The New York-based university has been at the centre of a bitter debate as students and faculty members set up an encampment on campus to demand an immediate cessation of the Israel-Hamas war.

Footage has been circulating online showing a group of protesters marching around campus chanting in support of the terror group.

In one of the clips, the protesters can be seen waving a Palestinian flag as they jump up and down shouting.

They said: “Oh, Al-Qassam Brigades, you make us proud, kill another soldier now.”

The Al-Qassem brigades are the military wing of Hamas and they widely operate across the occupied West Bank.

Another clip shows some demonstrators on what appears to be a subway carriage with one young woman prompting the chant.

As she shouts, “Free our prisoners, free them all. Zionism will fall,” other protesters join her in repeating the shout.

In another video, pro-Palestine protesters can be heard chanting “Israel will fall” and “Palestine is Arab.”

The protests have pitted students against one another, with pro-Palestinian students demanding that their schools condemn Israel’s assault on Gaza and divest from companies that sell weapons to Israel.

Some Jewish students, meanwhile, say much of the criticism of Israel has veered into antisemitism and made them feel unsafe, and they point out that Hamas is still holding hostages taken during the group’s October 7 invasion.

On Monday, Columbia announced that courses at the Morningside campus will offer virtual options for students when possible, citing safety as their top priority.

On Sunday, Elie Buechler, a rabbi for the Orthodox Union’s Jewish Learning Initiative at Columbia, sent a WhatsApp message to nearly 300 Jewish students recommending they go home until it’s safer for them on campus.

Two other Ivy League presidents resigned months ago following widely criticized testimony they gave to the same committee.
