A Colorado career criminal who led police on a triple-digit high-speed chase before being captured prone in nothing but his underwear was thrown behind bars following a year of being in and out of jail.

Zakary Dean Hirschfield was sentenced to five years in prison for the multi-town pursuit in Colorado’s Douglas County back on January 15.

Hirschfield took off in his SUV during a routine traffic stop, nearly hitting the Douglas County deputy who had pulled him over and raced across the county for over an hour.

“He’s taking off, he just tried to hit me, the unidentified deputy said in the radio as Hirschfield’s passenger could be yelling from inside the car, according to body cam footage released by officials.

Throughout the chase, Hirschfield drove recklessly, merging into oncoming traffic, crossing over the median and hitting 100 mph, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Hirschfield was tracked down by cops, a K9 team and drones where he was found hiding under a porch wearing nothing but his underwear.

“Don’t run from our deputies. We will catch you and hold you accountable. This defendant learned that the hard way and is now headed to prison. Putting our deputies and the public at risk will not be tolerated in Douglas County,” Sheriff Darren Weekly said.

The near-naked Hirschfield was splayed out on the ground as he was handcuffed while nearly a dozen officers surrounded him.

Cocaine and drug paraphernalia were discovered inside his car after he was captured, police said.

“Some criminals seem to think the rules don’t apply to them, and they can simply run from the law when they’re caught,” 23rd Judicial District Attorney George Brauchler revealed. “Hirschfield put a deputy, his own passenger, and countless innocent motorists in danger because he refused to stop. He now has five years to realize he picked the wrong county from which to run from the law.”

The 24-year-old repeat offender had an extensive criminal past and was on probation for a “big time drug distribution felony” in neighboring Arapahoe County, but had worked out a plea deal to lower his sentence to just “straight probation,” Brauchler revealed.

Hirschfield continued to get in trouble during the first eight months of probation leading to his probation being revoked, only to be put back on probation, Brauchler said.

The revolving-door criminal was arrested in Jefferson County in August 2025 for an alleged robbery and was released on a personal recognizance bond he was on at the time of his arrest in January.

“You come down to this jurisdiction to run, we just don’t give up,” Brauchler said, praising the work from the sheriff’s department and his office after Hirschfield’s sentencing.
