Cleaning agent 'works treat' for banishing moss from patios and preventing new growth

The moss-preventative solution recently emerged on a YouTube clip, which described it as a “simple way to remove moss from drives and patios.”

The clip garnered more than a million views and hundreds of comments from viewers who have previously put the hack to the test.

“I did this last year and it worked very well. Just about the do the blocks again this year. Not so much algae on the surface as clumps of moss and sprigs of glass,” wrote one commentator.

Another user chimed in: “Works are treated. I aim to do this on a drizzly damp day.”

DON’T MISS:

“Definitely the best chemical for the job,” a third person, warning that “sodium carbonate or soda ash is alkaline so using it around dogs and cats is not advisable.”

They continued: “However, keep them in for a few days or until the first rain shower or sprinkle water gently not to wash it away.”

A fourth person penned: “I’ve used soda crystals on roof moss and in my back garden. It works a treat and much better than pesticides.”

For maximum efficiency, gardeners are advised to wet the moss-covered area with hot water before sprinkling soda crystals generously over the area.
