A cleaner has admitted her stomach turns every time she sees a toilet cleaning habit that many people are guilty of.
The remark, from mum-of-three Kelly, emerged in a social media clip about her biggest cleaning pet peeves.
She offered several tips in the video, such as urging homeowners to stop reusing the clothes on their toilets, throwing out the toilet brush, and always cleaning the dirtiest part of the loo last.
On her TikTok page @kelly198810, Kelly explained: “These are my three biggest icks, as a cleaner. Number one – using clothes on the toilet seat. A lot of people say that that’s OK, but personally, I can’t stand it, it turns my stomach.”
She went on: “I used to use Clinell wipes but now I just use a spray bottle and some toilet roll and flush it. No more putting clothes with God-know-what on in the washing machine.”

Sharing her own cleaning trick, Kelly mentioned: “I like to clean my toilet the cleanest bit first to the dirtiest bit.
“I have seen a few people cleaning the dirtiest bit first and then wiping the rest of it. It just turns my stomach.
“How do you know that your cleaner is washing their hands after they have cleaned their bathroom and they are touching the toilet roll that you are wiping yourself with, and then stamping it on the top with probably more limescale on there?”
Cleaning from the cleanest to the dirtiest part of the toilet will ensure no bacteria or viruses are spread along the surface.
In other words, areas like the flush handle should be prioritised, as it is likely to be less contaminated than the bowl itself.
Following a more systemic approach to cleaning, like the one mentioned above, is pivotal for maintaining a clean sanitised and safe bathroom environment.
The TikTok post, which raked in hundreds of comments, garnered many reactions from viewers who shared the same opinion about cleaning habits.
