Car SOS host claims classic British sportscar could rise in value – ‘their time is coming’

CAR SOS host Fuzz Townshend has urged collectors to get their hands on an iconic classic British sports car which could rise in value.

The TV host called on historic vehicle owners to secure a Triumph TR7 after declaring the plucky model’s “time is coming”.

The TR7 was produced by British Leyland in the 1970s and early 1980s and is one of the most important sports cars from the era.

The stunning bodywork is coupled with a top speed of 114mph from the 107bhp engine.

Approximately 115,000 TR7 models were built but around 528 remain on the roads in the UK today.

When asked to pick his favourite car of the series, Fuzz told Express.co.uk: “I wouldn’t have said this until last week but it’s the Triumph TR7. That reveal and that moment.

“It’s not my favourite car ever but I found out I like TR7’s more than I knew. Watch out, Triumph TR7’s bag them now because their time is coming.

“A hard top YR7 I think is a good one. In fact, they are so cheap, get a hard top and a soft top.

“They have tartan interiors, Why wouldn’t you have a car with a tartan interior? Listen, just go and get them. Go and get them now.”

However, fellow co-host Tim Shaw appeared to be less convinced, quickly interjecting that there was “no chance”.

Classic car specialists at Hagerty have previously earmarked the TR7 as one to watch with values likely to rise.

Between 2020 and 2021, TR7 valuations increased by 17 percent with almost £1,000 added to the price tag.

Last year, Hagerty also suggested the Triumph TR8 was one for investors to keep their eye on after a 17.3 percent increase, appreciating by over £2,000.

Fuzz has confirmed the duo will work on restoring a Triumph TR7 in the latest series of Car SOS in what is expected to be one of the most heart-wrenching episodes in years.

The work is completed for motoring fan Barry who is sadly suffering from stage four cancer. The pair have just finished filming on the episode which is expected to be aired as the last broadcast of series 12.

Fuzz added: “We gave a car back just a few days ago a Triumph TR7 with a V8 engine and just every moment in time, everybody was close to tears on that day.

“This guy was clearly so loved and having such a hard time of it and it’s honestly it’s so not about the cars. It really isn’t.”
