Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero review
If your dream Parisian stay entails pulling back the curtains each morning to a grand view of the Eiffel Tower, then Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero is a hotel that’s well worth adding to your itinerary. Located quite literally a stone’s throw from the famous marble esplanade of the Trocadéro, Canopy offers postcard-worthy scenes of the Iron Lady twinkling at night, but with the comfort and reliability of a global hotel brand.
Having opened its doors in 2021, Paris Trocadero became the first location from the Canopy property portfolio to open in France.
Though the Canopy brand is part of the wider Hilton family, it offers a “modern, boutique twist”. Nestled in a former 1930s electric factory, Canopy can be reached from Trocadero Metro station in just three minutes on foot. It’s easy to spot Canopy on Avenue d’Eylau, the entryway overhung by flowers and featuring the orange branding synonymous with the hotel chain.
The seven-floor hotel was designed by architect and interior designer Jean-Philippe Nuel, inviting guests in with rich, warm tones and blocky details which pay homage to the building’s industrial history.

Much like the other hotels in the Canopy portfolio (including Canopy London City which we reviewed previously), while contemporary in style, the interior design draws inspiration from the surrounding neighbourhood with nods to Trocadero’s rich history.
Check-in is a straightforward process with friendly staff who are on hand to answer any questions you may have or offer handy insights about the local area.
Guest security is paramount, and as such lift access to guest rooms requires a keycard.
Whilst the incredible views of the Eiffel Tower were, unsurprisingly, one of our favourite things about the hotel it’s worth noting that only a few specific suites offer views directly from your room. Luckily, the hotel also features a rooftop open all year (and an additional skyline bar during the summer) which looks out across the 19th arrondissement to the tower beyond.
The hotel also features a modest but fairly equipped fitness suite which found to be the perfect way to warm up our muscles before a day exploring the City of Light.
The Rooms
Rating: 4/5
Home to 123 rooms, Paris Trocadero offers a variety of sizes and price points to suit travellers’ needs, whether that be a cosy room for a short stay, a larger family-sized or a luxury suite. You’ll make your way to your room along turquoise-painted corridors adorned with geometric artwork in hues reminiscent of Piet Mondrian.
For our stay, we checked into the King Junior Suite with Eiffel Tower View. From here we could enjoy the Eiffel Tower’s glittering light show from our own private perch, undoubtedly one of the best assets of the suite, but it’s worth noting only select rooms and suites offer this perk. Some suites also offer terraces overlooking the Iron Lady, though we enjoyed the vistas from a Juliette Balcony.
By day, rooms are flooded with natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows, though a privacy partition keeps the bedroom area of the suite more subdued. While small rooms are typically synonymous with a stay in Paris, particularly in central hotels, we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of space on offer (376 sq.ft) to make ourselves at home.
In keeping with the Canopy brand, rooms feature a signature Canopy bed with Serta Cool Balance Technology and a television perfect for lazy mornings with a coffee before you get up for the day. Beds are spacious enough to sprawl out in and comfortable enough to ensure you’re well-rested for a day of exploring the city. Despite being mere steps from the busy Trocadero, we were undisturbed thanks to excellent soundproofing both from outside of the hotel and neighbouring rooms. Blackout curtains are also a welcome touch.
The suite also features a separate living space, where you can enjoy the film-worthy views across the surrounding arrondissement from the sofa. While the majority of the hotel is clean and modern the rest of the hotel is, we did spot a few stains and signs of wear on the sofa.

Rooms are equipped with hanging space and drawers for storage, as well as a mini refrigerator, iron and ironing board and Nespresso machine. There’s a handy refillable glass water bottle which can be topped up at the water refill station on each floor.
Bathrooms are also spacious, featuring a double vanity, waterfall shower complete with ‘Thankyou’ branded shampoo, shower gel and conditioner (something many hotels forget about), plus a bath. The toilet is housed in a separate room and whilst this does offer privacy, it also means having to walk a little further from the bedroom section – which can be a challenge if you find yourself in need in the middle of the night.
However, while the room is advertised as coming with bathrobes and slippers for use in the room, we were a little disappointed to see ours had been forgotten. With that said, a quick call to reception can ensure you have everything you need.

Dining and Drinking
How does Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero compare to other city hotels?
Rating: 4/5
Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero is home to two restaurants: L’Esprit Nouveau (meaning new spirit) serving up French cuisine from its ground-floor location, and rooftop terrace and bar l’Eylau Paris which is open during the summer months for tapas and drinks.
As we visited during the winter, we did not get to experience Bar l’Eylau Paris first-hand, though a quick scroll on Instagram will show how popular this hotspot gets once the summer sun arrives.
L’Esprit Nouveau is your stop for all-day dining, serving up an array of typical French dishes, plus crowd-pleasers such as pizza and dumplings.
While French cuisine isn’t known for its vast vegetarian and vegan offerings, staff are able to whip up alternative dishes to accommodate where possible.
Breakfast, however, is where the hotel dining experience excels with both a hot and continental breakfast buffet, along with dishes made to order from the breakfast menu.
The chef’s special eggs each day were a standout. The poached eggs with creamed butternut squash are a particular must-try.
There is also a good array of meats, salmon, cheeses and, of course, pastries, as well as fruit and yoghurt making up most of the continental offering. The hot breakfast dishes mean guests can choose from sausages, eggs, ratatouille and bacon. Inside the drinks fridge, you’ll find a choice of juices and smoothies, including freshly made green juice to kick-start a healthy day.
Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast or dinner, there will always be warm and friendly staff on hand to help.

Canopy Paris Trocadero nestled in the 16th arrondissement, known for its elegant 19th-century architecture, large avenues, renowned museums and trendy restaurants. Tucked away on Avenue d’Eylau, the hotel is just steps from the Trocadero and views of the Eiffel Tower. Yet, despite its proximity to one of Paris’ busiest tourist hotspots, the hotel remains a haven of peace and quiet once inside.
There are areas of Paris that have more going on in terms of museums, shopping, dining and bars, but the good news is you’re well-connected enough to explore the city with ease.
Trocadero Metro station is just a three-minute walk away from the hotel entrance, connecting you with Paris and beyond.
Gare du Nord can be reached in around 30 minutes by Metro or approximately 23 minutes by car. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, meanwhile, can be reached in just over 40 minutes by car.
