Call The Midwife characters' fate 'sealed' as beloved couple missing from new spoilers

Call The Midwife have released behind the scenes images of the current shoot for this year’s festive special and fans have noticed two cast members are absent leaving them fearful that they have exited the BBC show. Trixie Aylward (played by Helen George) was seen leaving for New York to join husband Matthew (Olly Rix) at the end of season thirteen.

With production for the Christmas episode and the upcoming series fourteen now in prodution fans are concerned that the popular characters don’t appear in any behind the scenes images. The show took to their social media to give an insight into production with a series of photos and fans were quick to comment on the absence begging for them to come back.

@themaryrn wailed: “Missing our favorites…Trixie and Matthew!” @hot_shutter_ks opined: “Will be good to have another new season coming. It is a wonderful show but please bring Matthew back and give him and Trixie some more realistic storylines in the remaining 2 series. It went a bit rogue in the last season. I still think season 12 was the best of all.”

@babyeh asked: “Has Trixie left and gone to NYC? @helenrgeorge,” with a crying emoji. @bonsterhot1 pleaded: “Bring Matthew back and Trixie.”

@linda.brennan.9889 simply said: “We need Mathew back.” @maz199525 concurred writing: “I love Geoffrey hope they keep him in and please bring back Matthew.”

The behind the scenes images and a video they also posted show the cast having fun as the funfair comes to Poplar.

“When the cast arrived at the studio to start shooting the latest Christmas Special this week, they were treated to a sight from their childhood dreams… a whole funfair had been built on the Call the Midwife set!” they captioned the posts.

“It’s all part of our latest festive story, in which the travelling funfair visits Poplar! Several of our cast are involved with this story – and so our poor, utterly serious and professional team have had to suffer free helter skelter rides, rifle shooting games, dodgem cars and carousels – not to mention copious amounts of candy floss and fresh popcorn – oh, the pain of it all!!”

Call the Midwife returns with a Christmas Special in December and and a new series in early 2025. Previous series are available on BBC iPlayer.
