Cadbury Creme Eggs have 'secret' ingredient for 'yolk' some will find very unappetising

And as it turns out, the chocolate giant confirmed that it incorporates an unexpected ingredient to produce the vibrant yellow centre of its Creme Eggs.

During a visit to Cadbury HQ in Bournville, a spokesperson for the company revealed to the Daily Star that the colour of the yolk in Creme Eggs comes from none other than “paprika.”

While it may come as a surprise, the answer has been right in front of us all along.

The ingredients list clearly shows “Colouring (paprika extract)” added at the end.

While it may be an odd concept, the same spice used in savoury dishes like curries and chilis adds its vibrant hue to Creme Eggs.

The egg white fondant also contains real dried egg whites along with sugar syrup, making for a delectable treat.

Interestingly, many Creme Egg enthusiasts were unaware of this revelation, with one person taking to X, formerly Twitter, to express their confusion.

They asked: “What the h**l is paprika extract doing in a Creme Egg?”

Another person responded: “It’s for colouring – I suspect it’s used for the yolk!”
