Brits could make huge savings of up to 50% on rail fares during an upcoming sale.

If you’re thinking of booking a train soon, consider looking at the Great British Rail Sale as you might be able to make a notable saving.

Millions of train tickets will be available at discounted prices across Britain next week as the Government launches its biggest-ever national rail sale, reports GB News.

The sale coincides with the 200th anniversary of the country’s railways.

From January 14, passengers can purchase selected advance and off-peak tickets at up to 50% off for travel between January 17 and March 31 2025.

Discounted journeys across the UK will be offered with thousands of popular routes included.

As part of the sale, train riders could travel from Ashford to Ramsgate for just £2.60 instead of the usual £5.20.

Passengers could travel from Liverpool to London for as little as £7, while a journey from Preston to Edinburgh could cost just £8.40.

The discounted tickets will be available from January 14 to January 20.

If you’d like to get tickets in the sale, make sure to be quick as these reduced fares won’t be available for long and are only available while stocks last.

Secretary of State Heidi Alexander said: “I’m launching the biggest ever rail sale so more passengers can get big discounts on train tickets to visit destinations across the country.

“Whether you’re planning a getaway or wanting to visit friends or family, this sale offers huge reductions on all sorts of journeys. Make the most of this sale, get your tickets while you can.”

In 2024, the rail sale proved popular with £5.1 million made in ticket sales and an additional 440,000 journeys made by train.
