Brits amazed after spotting 'Margaret Thatcher' in mum's ironing board on sale for £5

Brits were left amazed after spotting ‘Margaret Thatcher’ after a mum put her ironing board up for sale on social media. Karen Schmit, uploaded the advert on Facebook, placing the item on sale for £5.

Potential buyers quickly noticed that a Thatcher-shaped mark was burnt into the ironing board’s multi-coloured cover, leaving local Norwich residents in stitches.

Commenters quickly pointed out she had the “Iron Lady” burnt into the board, while others instead said they noticed “Queen Elizabeth II.”

Despite the listing still being live on the popular social media site, the 63-year-old has instead decided to keep the item as memorabilia, as it belonged to her late mum – who would have “loved” the resemblance to the legendary Conservative Party leader – who led Britain between 1979 and 1990.

The part-time teaching assistant told SWNS: “I was clearing stuff out. I don’t like anything to go to waste. “People said they could see a face in it.”

“One person said the Queen – then the Thatcher comments started coming through. People said it was the Iron Lady! It’s not on sale anymore. I’ve kept it, because it’s so funny. My mum would have loved it.”

Mum-of-one Karen said the ironing board was “a bit of fun – a bit of nonsense”. But despite keeping the object, she has admitted she wasn’t so keen on the divisive politician, who led Britain through the Falkland War.

Karen simply said: “She wasn’t for me.”

Pareidolia is the name give to the brain phenomenon which causes people to see faces in inanimate objects.
