British tourists with red passports issued stark travel warning

Brits looking forward to jetting off on their summer holidays later in the year have been urged to make sure their affairs are in order to avoid being disappointed upon arriving at the airport, especially when it comes to their passport.

Since leaving the European Union, British passports have gone from red back to blue, and although red British passports are still fine to use they will soon be out of date.

However, what many Brits may not have realised is that their passport may have run out before the official expiry date, depending on what country they’re trying to travel to. For Brits with red passports, this unofficial expiry date may be very soon, if it hasn’t already passed.

That’s because some countries have specific passport validity rules.

According to VisaGuide.World 70 countries have a six-month validity rule and 41 with a three-month validity rule.

This means that to travel to any of these nations, your passport needs to have at least six or three months left on it, depending on the validity rules of the country you’re going to.

If you’ve got a red passport, there is a good chance you might not have long left before it expires and if it’s in the six or three-month validity window of the country you’re going to, then you’ll need to apply for a new one.
