The Tampa Bay Rays left it late, but they survived.

After falling behind in the 12th inning, Tampa’s relentless lineup clicked by hitting four straight singles following a leadoff error to scratch and claw their way to a 4-3 win to avoid a sweep.

The Rays are still alive, which is all that matters when facing elimination, but at what cost?

Tampa Bay used seven pitchers in Game 4, including assumed Game 5 starter Nick Martinez, leaving Kevin Cash with quite the puzzle to put together Wednesday night.

The Brewers, meanwhile, will be sending their ace, Jacob Misiorowski, to the bump.

Brewers vs. Rays prediction

With Tampa Bay’s pitching plans shrouded in mystery, we’ll instead focus on the star of the show Wednesday night.

The Rays did a decent job against Misiorowski in Game 1.

Tampa Bay struck out just three times in five innings against the MLB strikeout king, but the Rays still only managed to tag Misiorowski for one run in a 3-2 loss.

If you can’t do damage against Misiorowski when he has his B-stuff, what is to be expected if he has his A-stuff?

Misiorowski averaged nearly 13 strikeouts per nine innings in the 2026 campaign, and he struck out at least 10 batters in 10 of his 30 starts during the regular season.

There’s every chance he can bring those numbers to Game 5, as he will be given quite a long leash after the Brewers used eight pitchers Tuesday night.

The path is there for Misiorowski to do something historic.

Jackson Chourio is rightfully an odds-on favorite to be named World Series MVP, but Misiorowski has a real chance to close that gap if he goes out there and blows Tampa Bay away.

He’ll need to be sensational (and Chourio will need to have a rare quiet night), but Misiorowski has a real habit of doing remarkable things every time he steps out to the mound.

And if he does it in a clincher, it will be hard for the voters to ignore.
